I recently bought a large Sansevieria from them which had been heavily watered just before I bought it - although I thought these plants were supposed to be very sparsely watered (if even at all) during the winter. Nevertheless, it appeared healthy & I LOVE their garden centre!! I’ve been buying the majority of my garden plants from them since I first discovered them several years ago, so I was willing to trust the quality of their houseplants also. I have never watered it since bringing it home, simply because it did seem so sodden. I hoped it would soon dry out but this hasn’t happened. Instead the leaves started to look a tad mushy so I ended up taking it out of the nursery pot & repotting it into a new pot with a dry cactus mix. Upon closer inspection at this time, it appeared to be suffering from quite extensive root rot (so much so I discarded part of the plant) & I also found some leaves to be infected with mealybugs & scale! Trying my best to save it but very disappointed.

I love visiting Cowells for the sheer range and quality of plants, shrubs, trees etc. It is rare to find a garden centre as opposed to a ‘shopping experience’ , for someone who is a gardener and plant lover. The plants are beautiful presented, and I really like how they are colour coordinated.it would be very difficult to leave without at least one purchase. There is also a wide range of garden accessories, tools etc as well as greeting cards and gifts for the home. The staff are always friendly and helpful.
