Checked web site today to use the cafe inside Sunydale Garden centre and found that it did not close till 5.00pm which was perfect to catch up with a friend, we arrived at 3:50 ordered cake, tea and coffee, firstly the coffee and walnut cake was devoid of coffee and so dry it was unedible, when we complained the waitress offered no replacement but wanted to know if we had finished because they were waiting to wash up. The time was 4.20pm, when we informed her that it said on their site 5.00pm close she said that was a summer time, unfortunately we are not psychic they then started sweeping around our feet and bleaching the tables whilst still drinking our tea. It was an awful experience avoid at all costs.

Unfortunately a bad experience with service from the shop ‘manager’ when attempting to use the small cafe area. The main counter area was full with the only available seating in a rear room which was by the admission of a member of staff huddled in there on her break ‘absolutely freezing. I visited with two vulnerable adults and we were all made to feel very uncomfortable by an employee who refused point blank to move a little table into the warm for us as we had already ordered our coffe and cakes. Actually I have to say, I haven’t experienced such an appalling customer service manner for a long time. I seated the people I was with on some display garden furniture whilst we waited for a table to become free. It did in the end but not before one of the employees came over to move us and spoke with such an unhelpful and utterly rude tone and manner.. the garden centre itself is quite sweet with a lovely aquarium. Hopefully some training in customer care will be provided for her.asap
