Take cuttings from osteospermums
Make more of this garden favourite for free with easy cuttings, says Kris

Use secateurs to remove 4-6in (10-15cm) lengths of non-flowering stem tip, cutting just above a leaf node. Back on the cutting bench, pull off lower leaves and make a fresh cut just below a node.

Fill a 5in (13cm) pot with cutting compost and perlite. Make three small holes around the edge of the pot. Dip the cutting ends in rooting hormone powder and firm into the holes. Make sure leaves do not touch the compost.

Water in and place in an unheated propagator in a bright spot out of direct sunlight. Alternatively, cover each pot with a clear plastic bag. Keep moist until roots form. Pot on when roots appear through the pot base.
