Really disappointed with Dobbies Carlisle. Been before when it first opened & whilst seemed expensive it was acceptable for the range of choice & good to have local produce etc. We went mid afternoon on a Wednesday. The bedding plants were mostly dry & looked uncared for. The restaurant was quiet with 2 staff at hot drinks counter & 1 on till. The 2 ladies doing coffees spent the entire time talking about job issues & even though there was no queue the coffees were cold by the time we sat down. That as when we could find a clear table! Not going back! Will stick to orton grange for hot coffee, really home cooked food & cheerful service.

The garden centre itself is fine if not a little expensive. But do not go in the cafe, plates everywhere,it's dirty, staff are unhappy and unhelpful. The food is not great and they never have what you want or they have run out of something. They same to have a bad restaurant manager and that then shows in their staff. I have been in about 6 times now and everytime they are giving refunds for cold food or late food. The worst cafe I have been in.

i visited garden centre and found it very very good also had a meal and that was good mind was still warm and it took know time at all to get served yes a lot of the table needed emptying but that shows it was good and that they were busy and staff were very polite better than a lot of other places we have been in fact Dobbies at Stirling should take lessons mind the dobbie at ayr is nice as well will be back thank you
